Brigitte Nsensele Wa Nsensele Named First President of the State Council
In a historic announcement, Brigitte Nsensele Wa Nsensele has been appointed as the First President of the State Council of the Democratic Republic of Congo. The decree of her appointment was read on the national channel RTNC on Thursday, January 16, 2025.
Brigitte Nsensele Wa Nsensele, a holder of a Bachelor’s degree in private and judicial law from the University of Kinshasa, takes over this position from Marthe Odio Nonde, who has now been appointed as a judge at the Constitutional Court under the Presidency of the Republic.
Transition of Power
In a previous decree, Marthe Odio Nonde, who succeeded Professor Félix Vunduawe as the First President of the State Council, was retired by the Head of State, Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi. According to the decree, she had served for over 25 years continuously, justifying her retirement with the benefits of emeritus status and honorarium.
