Jean-Paul Mukolo Nkokesha Appointed Attorney General near the Council of State
Jean-Paul Mukolo Nkokesha, having completed his two terms as Attorney General near the Constitutional Court, will now join the Council of State to assume the role of Attorney General near the Council of State. The announcement was made following a series of orders read on the national channel (RTNC). In this position, Jean-Paul Mukolo Nkokesha succeeds Antoine-Félicien Iluta Ikombe Yamama.
Importance of the Council of State
Article 154 of the Constitution of February 18, 2006, specifically established a system of administrative jurisdictions composed of the Council of State as well as Administrative Courts and Tribunals. This constitutional provision was formalized by organic law No. 16/027 of October 15, 2016, regarding the organization, competence, and functioning of administrative jurisdictions.
The Council of State plays a crucial role in upholding the rule of law. It resolves disputes between citizens, businesses, and associations against the Administration. The Council of State is the highest administrative court in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

After this appointment, Jean-Paul Mukolo Nkokesha will have to take an oath in the coming days before the Head of State, the supreme magistrate, before assuming his duties.
