450 Bandits Arrested in Kinshasa Operation Ndobo
In a bold move to crack down on crime, the Congolese National Police (PNC) successfully apprehended 450 suspected bandits, known as Kuluna in Lingala, during a recent operation in Kinshasa. The operation took place on the night of December 31, 2024, through to the early hours of January 1, 2025, across the city’s four districts.
Vice Prime Minister Ensures Public Safety
Vice Prime Minister Jacquemain Shabani, who also serves as the Minister of Interior and Security, personally oversaw the operation to ensure the safety of Kinshasa’s residents during the New Year’s Eve celebrations. He conducted a thorough inspection of communal houses where the apprehended individuals were being held to guarantee the security of the population during the festive period.
Expertise of Law Enforcement Officials
At the Kintambo communal house, the Kinshasa Police Commissioner, General Blaise Kilimbalimba, presented around fifty Kuluna to the national security chief, providing detailed explanations of the ground operations. Additionally, 200 delinquents captured in the Tshangu district on the same night were tracked down, with their victims flocking to reclaim their stolen belongings.
Legal Proceedings and Presidential Concerns
The 450 apprehended Kuluna, along with over 1,500 others previously arrested, will face judicial proceedings during the upcoming mobile court sessions. These sessions were initiated at the request of the President, who expressed worries about the rising urban crime rates in the country.
